Steve Heyer: History in Football
Who would not know about NFL? And those who know and follow NFL will absolutely be familiar with Stephon Heyer. He is one of the National Football League’s success stories. With his mad skills and great talents in the field, there is no doubt he is built and born for success.
While Steve Heyer is so absolutely recognizable, a few people are actually familiar about how he came to be before he reached an elite status at NFL. Standing and towering at six feet and six inches tall with a weight of approximately 330 pounds of muscle, no one would miss him in a crowd. But his physicality is only one aspect of his greatness in the field. He actually trained hard and well to develop his football skills.
It all started when Stephon Heyer was in high school. Born and raised by a single mother, Glenda Heyer, the young Stephon understood and actually experienced life’s difficulties. Steve Heyer was not born with a silver spoon. As a matter of fact, he was just a regular teenager in the humble town of Snellville, Georgia. But as young as he may have been, he had his priorities straight and that is the pursuit of his dreams.
Stephon’s mom like most mothers had always dreamt of a big career for his son. So, he encouraged Stephon’s interest in football and actually hired the assistance of a personal player who had a big hand at the development of Stephon’s skills in the field. But more than that, his personal trainer in high school has taught him focus, perseverance and motivation which are equally important not only in football but in the game of life in general.
He played football from his freshman year to senior year at Brookwood High School and he did so excellently. His efforts did not go unnoticed. As a matter of fact, his hard work and great potential was easily recognized by the colleges that sent him invitations. It came from various states. He had a lot of options but in the end, he chose to go to Maryland where he prioritized his studies but found equal time for football.
It was in 2007 that he started his NFL career as an undrafted free agent for the Washington Redskins. He later signed with the Raiders in August 2011. He currently plays for the New York Jets with whom he signed with on May of this year.
